Kez agility nuts 2016.jpg

I love agility! I have competed in agility successfully for many years reaching the dizzying heights of grade 7 (UK) and championship level with my little crossbreed Kez. There is no limit in agility on how much you can challenge yourself, which is why I love it so much. Even at championship level I would always have something new to challenge myself. I never competed to win, I always competed as I loved the excitement of never knowing the challenge I was going to face. If we didn't get it right, it then gave me something new to train. As a bonus, I get to travel all over the UK with my wonderful dogs.

Agility is a very physically demanding sport so your dog needs to be physically fit to take part. It is not advised for dogs that need to lose weight as jumping and doing equipment can put extra strain on joints. If you would like to improve your dogs fitness I recommend doing this away from agility first.
Most dogs do love agility so don’t be put off if you think your dog won’t. It’s a very inclusive activity. You can use treats, toys or just running as the reward. Normally when I hear of people saying there dog never took to it it’s usually due to lacking confidence. If we train it right it is an amazing activity that can really improve the bond between you and your dog.
